The top Republican in the Wisconsin Senate is ready to move ahead with his version of a shared revenue plan.
Senate Majority Leader Devin LeMahieu yesterday said the Senate will hold hearings next week to work on changes to the plan that state representatives okayed on Wednesday. The biggest change will likely be dropping the requirement that voters in Milwaukee and Milwaukee County approve a new sales tax increase. LeMahieu says it’s unfortunate that Assembly Speaker Robin Vos has drawn a ‘line in the sand’ over the deal. Vos on Wednesday he’s done negotiating the proposal that would send about 500-million dollars more to local governments across the state.
