Wisconsin’s attorney general will argue against the state’s abortion law next week.
The case, officially known as Josh Kaul vs. Joel Urmanski, is due to be argued in court in Madison next Thursday. Kaul is challenging Wisconsin’s 1849 abortion law that bans abortion in every case except those to save a mother’s life. He says lawmakers tried to update the law a few years ago, and that shows the intent to give women more access to abortion.
The case is eventually expected to make its way to the Wisconsin Supreme Court, and court watchers expect the to-be liberal court majority to strike Wisconsin’s old abortion law down.
