In celebration of Arbor Day, the City of Altoona will plant two trees at 10th Street Park on Friday, April 28 at 11:30 am. Eighth-grade students from the
Altoona School system will be on hand to learn about the value of trees, how to plant a tree, and to do some clean-up in 10th Street Park and Cinder City Park.
“The City is working with the Altoona School District on this project, which is an exciting new partnership for both entities,” said Richard Downey, Assistant City Administrator for the City of Altoona. “One of the lenses in the City’s Comprehensive Plan is climate action; hence the City is excited to hold this learn opportunity for local students, celebrate the City once again being a Tree City, and also take positive action for the climate.”
The eighth graders will be on hand at 10th Street and Cinder City Park from 11:00 am to the end of the school day. A short presentation about planting the trees will be held at 11:30 am.
