Supporters of a flat tax in Wisconsin are willing to play the long game.
A Senate panel heard from lawmakers, budget reformers, and small business owners yesterday on the plan to tax Wisconsin to a flat, three-and-a-quarter percent income tax. The idea is to make Wisconsin a standout in the Midwest, and a competitor to zero-income-tax states like Tennessee and Florida. Governor Evers has promised to veto any flat tax proposal the legislature sends him.
