Senator Johnson Pushes For Statewide Vote on Abortion News | April 25, 2023 | 0 | by Morgan McCarthy Wisconsin’s Republican U.S. Senator continues to push for a statewide vote on abortion. Senator Ron Johnson told a crowd in Milwaukee yesterday a statewide referendum may be the best way to set limits on abortion in Wisconsin. He said he doesn’t see voters in the state allowing abortion much past 12 weeks. Johnson first brought-up the idea of a statewide vote before the November election. Wisconsin law, however, doesn’t allow for a binding statewide referendum, and the Democrats’ win in this month’s state Supreme Court rule likely means Wisconsin’s 1849 abortion law will be struck down soon.
