UW-Madison students marked Earth Day on Saturday with a march from Library Mall to the State Capitol. The event drew a lot of marchers, including members of the UW Forward Marching Band. The students said the goal was to press the state and the university to address environmental issues.
The very first Earth Day, on April 22nd, 1970, was organized by then-Wisconsin Senator Gaylord Nelson.
