Scammers Impersonate Capitol Police

State officials are warning about scammers who are impersonating Capitol Police. 

The Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection and the Department of Administration put out a warning on Friday.  Scammers are “spoofing” the Capitol Police dispatch number are calling people, saying there’s a warrant for their arrest and demanding payment.  Officials with the two departments said Capitol Police will never make threatening phone calls about a warrant or arrest.  And officers won’t ever call to demand payment or ask for personal financial information.
