Some UW Health patients are not getting messages from their doctors, they are getting notes written by AI.
The hospital yesterday said it is moving forward with the ‘limited use’ of artificial intelligence. The AI is provided by Epic and Microsoft, and responds to questions that patients send to their doctors. UW’s Chero Goswami says the AI helps doctors focus on other things, and will hopefully reduce burnout. Goswami says a human reviews each AI message before it’s sent, and that just 10 doctors are using the automated responses to start.
