One of the Republicans who will write Wisconsin’s next state budget says it’s a balancing act.
State Senator Howard Marklein this week said the legislature’s budget-writing Joint Committee on Finance is hearing from all sorts of people and groups who want more money from the state. Yesterday, JFC held a public budget hearing in the Wisconsin Dells. Local school leaders turned out to press lawmakers for more per-pupil and special education money. Marklein says the goal is to write a budget that is good for the state now, and good for the state two years from now.
