Wheels Turning on Free Bus Ride Plan

Wheels Turning on Free Bus Ride Plan

The city of Eau Claire is looking to spend some of the last of its coronavirus stimulus money to make sure homeless people can ride the bus for free.

The city council will vote tomorrow night on a plan to spend 12 thousand-dollars in ARPA money on bus vouchers for the homeless. City councilor Andrew Werthmann says free rides could allow Eau Claire’s homeless to get out of downtown, and look for jobs or go grocery shopping. Eau Claire is currently offering vouchers, but Werthmann says more are needed to meet the demand.
