There won’t be any criminal charges following the investigation into Eau Claire County’s Department of Human Services.
La Crosse County D.A. Tim Gruenke on Friday said he didn’t find ‘facts that were deserving of a criminal offense, especially considering the burden of proving a crime beyond a reasonable doubt.’ Gruenke was called-in to look into a three-point-three million-dollar budget shortfall at DHS. He said he found some issues inside the department, but nothing that was a crime.
Eau Claire County’s Administrators’ Office on Friday said the shortfall was simply a reflection of a need for more for social services versus a lack of resources.
