Investigators in Racine found their suspect in a 23-year-old murder through a DNA match.
Racine Police yesterday announced an arrest in the 2000 murder of Linda Fields. She was found strangled to death. There was DNA evidence at the time, but there weren’t any matches in the state or federal databases. Racine Police say they tracked down the suspect, Lucas Alonso, through a DNA match from his brother and father. From there, investigators worked backwards to settle on Alonso. He was arrested earlier this month in Racine.
