The University of Wisconsin is offering some students a chance at a free ride at the Madison campus.
The school on Friday announced a new plan to pay for tuition, room and board, meals, fees, and even textbooks for students who qualify for Pell Grants. Pell Grants traditionally helped low income students cover the cost of a college education. In-state students who qualify will get four years for free. Out-of-state students who qualify would be limited to just two free years. UW-Madison officials expect about 800 kids to qualify for the program.
