The Eau Claire Fire Department responded to a structure fire early this morning on Main St. On arrival, Engine 2 reported smoke showing from the residence and made entry on the 1st floor for primary search and fire attack. Additional crews made entry into the basement and worked to locate the source of the smoke.
Fire was located between the basement level and the 1st floor in the floor and walls, and was brought under control as the remainder of the residence was searched for occupants. It was determined that two occupants of the residence had evacuated prior to the fire departments arrival. These residents were relocated to alternative housing by the property manager.
No injuries were reported at the time of this release. The ECFD is continuing to investigate.
