One group of government watchdogs says about half the people in Wisconsin want to end the state’s personal income tax.
The Institute for Reforming Government yesterday released a study that says 45 percent of people in the state want to go to a zero-income tax. The survey also shows that 40 percent of people in the state want to keep the tax. IRG says 97 percent of people in Wisconsin think the income tax is too high. The survey comes as lawmakers at the Capitol in Madison are debating tax cuts and what to do with the state’s record six-point-six billion-dollar surplus.
