Today could be the last day that Dodge County has a full time prosecutor for a while.
The county’s D.A. is leaving office because he says he can’t find anyone who wants to work in Dodge County. D.A. Kurt Klomberg says a series of retirements, including his own, will leave the office with just two, part time formerly-retired prosecutors. Klomberg says he tried to find new prosecutors, but simply couldn’t. He says his decision to leave is one of the toughest things he’s ever had to do. Governor Evers will appoint a new D.A., but that won’t help replace the five other full time prosecutors that have left the office in recent years.
