A man has been arrested in Columbia County for stealing a car that had a woman sleeping in the back seat.
The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office says they got a call early Saturday from a woman who claimed she was being driven at high speed by a man who wouldn’t let her out. She told authorities that she and her family had been parked at a truck stop in Dekorra and that her family went inside while she slept in the car, and that’s when it was stolen.
Authorities eventually caught up with the driver in West Point and rescued the woman. The suspect was believed to be under the influence of a controlled substance.
