Wisconsin’s political map got some attention during the first Q&A session with the state’s supreme court candidates.
The four candidates for Supreme Court this spring were on the same stage in Madison yesterday. They talked about the court, and some of the issues facing Wisconsin. Liberal judge Janet Protasiewicz focused on Wisconsin’s political map, calling them ‘rigged.’ She said there’s no way anyone can look at the maps and think they are fair. Conservative former Justice Dan Kelly said the Wisconsin Supreme Court can look at the legal issues surrounding the state’s political map, but not the political issues.
He said the court is limited, and that lawmakers make the laws in the state, not justices on the Supreme Court.
