As expected, Wisconsin is ending 2022 with a record amount of money in the bank.
Governor Evers yesterday said the state is ending the year with a record four-point-six billion-dollars in its general fund. The cash is part of what is expected to be a record six-point-six billion-dollar budget surplus by the end of next year. Both Republicans and Democrats yesterday took credit for the savings. The governor says he moved the state into a better fiscal position, but Republican lawmakers say it was their policies that actually moved the state forward. Both sides are now talking about what to do with the record amount of money.
