Wisconsin’s first ban on TikTok is in Washington County.
County Executive Josh Schoemann on Monday ordered a ban on TikTok on any and all county-owned devices. He says what started-out as something fun has become a potential tool for Chinese spying. Schoemann says there are no reports of any hacks or leaks of county information, but he also says he doesn’t want to take the risk. Washington County’s ban comes as Republican lawmakers in Madison are asking the governor to ban TikTok on state devices, and as Congressman Mike Gallagher looks to push the Biden Administration to ban TikTok use across the country.
