The Eau Claire Fire Department is urging people to keep fire hydrants on their property clear of snow. Deputy Fire Chief Allyn Bertrang says that will help save critical minutes when they are responding to a fire. A few feet on all sides of the hydrants should be cleared.
Meanwhile, if the temps are hitting hard or you are dealing with power outages, warming shelters are open in Eau Claire County. People without power can warm up and get electronics charged at Eau Claire North High School and the fire department in Augusta.
