WI Elections Affect National Stage

Republican Ron Johnson is projected to retain his U.S. Senate seat in Wisconsin.

Johnson held off Lieutenant Governor Mandela Barnes to win reelection with about 50-and-a-half percent of the vote.  This will be Johnson’s third full term in office.

In other election updates that connect to the national stage, Republicans are flipping one U.S. House seat in Wisconsin.

Republican Derrick Van Orden beat out Democratic State Senator Brad Pfaff in Wisconsin’s Third Congressional District.  Van Orden takes over for long-time Congressman Rob Kind, who’s retiring from the U.S. House.  Republicans now control six of Wisconsin’s eight house seats.
