Bird Flu Hits WI Counties

News | November 5, 2022 | 0 | by Morgan McCarthy
Bird Flu Hits WI Counties

Strains of bird flu have turned up in backyard flocks in Marathon and Waukesha counties.

The Wisconsin Department of Agriculture Trade and Consumer Protection says birds with avian influenza were found in both counties.  The department has depopulated the birds in both locations to keep the disease from spreading.  Bird flu has been confirmed in 18 Wisconsin counties so far this year in domestic birds.  Poultry owners are asked to keep their birds indoors, if possible.
