WPS Asks For Bump In Rates

Another Wisconsin utility is asking for another double-digit rate hike.

Wisconsin Public Service, which covers most of the northeastern third of the state, is asking state regulators for a 14 percent rate hike for residential customers. The company says the average homeowner would pay 14 dollars more per-month for electricity. A couple of state lawmakers from northeastern Wisconsin are pushing back, saying it’s too much too soon.

We Energies, which covers all of southeast Wisconsin, last month asked for a similar rate hike. WPS says it needs to raise rates to cover the cost of inflation.
