A tornado that touched down in West Allis and swept into Milwaukee on Wednesday was the first confirmed twister in Milwaukee County in almost 23 years.
The National Weather Service said the tornado packing 75 mile-an-hour winds touched down a little past noon Wednesday near South 105th and West Becher streets in West Allis. It stayed on the ground for about three miles before dissipating near South 57th and 58th streets and West Stack Drive, north of Oklahoma Avenue in Milwaukee.
The Weather Service said no one was injured and the tornado didn’t cause any significant damage to buildings.
