If you heard sirens, they may have been responding to a fire On Eau Claire’s North Side.
Eau Claire Fire Department responded to a structure fire today at 831 North Hastings Way. Engine 10, was the first arriving company on scene and reported smoke coming from one of the basement windows. Crews deployed attack lines and advanced through the first floor to the basement where they encountered zero visibility and high heat conditions. The seat of the fire was quickly found and extinguished in coordination with ventilation and search efforts. All levels of the structure were searched and all occupants were found to be out and accounted for. Four occupants were displaced and Red Cross was notified to assist. Total damages are estimated at $75,000.
The incident is currently under investigation.
