The midterm elections are getting closer and Wisconsin voters finally got to see Republican U.S. Senator Ron Johnson and Democratic challenger Lieutenant Governor Mandela Barnes meet in a debate.
The two voiced their viewpoints on a number of topics last night, including public safety, abortion and marijuana legalization. Johnson said, “We have a huge problem, skyrocketing crime,” and said Barnes associates with those who have called for defunding the police. Barnes, meanwhile, said fully funded schools and well-paying jobs are two ways to counter violence in the community.
The debate was hosted by the Wisconsin Broadcasters Association and was the first of two scheduled debates. The second debate is set to take place Thursday and will be hosted by WTMJ-TV Channel Four.
