It’s a guilty verdict in Monroe County’s axe murder.
A jury yesterday found 38-year-old Thomas Aspseter of Sparta guilty of killing his grandfather with an axe last June. Aspseter told the jury he attacked his grandfather because his grandfather punched him in the face. Prosecutors say he killed him and wounded two others in a blind rage. Aspseter is looking at a mandatory life sentence.
