Wisconsin’s election managers want a million-and-a-half dollars to deal with an uptick in election complaints.
The state’s Elections Commission yesterday asked lawmakers for the money to create an Office of Inspector General. Commission administrator Meagan Wolfe says they need both the money and the I-G’s office because they had 50 complaints about the 2020 election. State Rep. Amy Loudenbeck, who is also running for Secretary of State, said it’s ridiculous that the Commission wants to create an agency inside of its own agency just to do its job. The request will have to wait til next spring as part of the formal budget process.
