There will be a cost to anyone who gets their student loans cancelled under President Biden’s plan.
Wisconsin is one of 13 states that will tax the cancellation. The Tax Foundation says someone who sees ten thousand-dollars of their student loans erased will owe about 530 dollars in state taxes. Wisconsin lawmakers could change the law, but are not expected to.
