Victims of clergy sex abuse are not happy with the public funeral plans for Milwaukee’s former archbishop.
The church is holding Rembert Weakland’ funeral at the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist later this afternoon. After that he will be laid to rest in Pennsylvania. Weakland led the church in Milwaukee when the first allegations of sex abuse by priests because public. Sex abuse survivors say Weakland should not be honored with a public remembrance, and they are asking Catholics not to attend today’s services.
