Lawyers for the man accused of running down more than 60 people during last year’s Christmas parade in Waukesha want the case against him thrown-out because of a jailhouse search of his cell.
Darrell Brooks Jr.’s lawyers say authorities took privileged documents when they searched his cell last month. Guards were looking for evidence that Brooks was conspiring on an insanity defense with his mother and another inmate. His lawyers say if the judge won’t dismiss the case, then the prosecutors should be removed at the very least. Brooks is due in court later this month for some key hearings hed of his trial scheduled later for this fall.
