Dane County is investigating allegations of impropriety at the Henry Vilas Zoo.
Retired judge Valerie Bailey Rihn was placed in charge of the probe into the zoo’s management staff and practices this past Thursday. The county wants to find out whether there is evidence to back up allegations of racism, union activity retaliation, unequal discipline, animal neglect and employee general discontent due to a hostile workplace. Investigator Bailey Rihn’s initial findings are expected to be released in report form on October 1st this year.
