A man is being charged with homicide and arson for allegedly killing a woman then setting a home on fire.
Scott Vaningan made his first appearance in court yesterday for the fire in Chippewa Falls on July 27th. Officials say the body of a woman was found in the home burned beyond recognition, but investigators were able to determine that she was killed before the fire was set. The victim has not been identified. Vaningan faces up to life in prison.
