There is another lawsuit involving a former Wauwatosa police officer for one of his officer-involved shootings.
The family of Alvin Cole yesterday filed a federal civil rights lawsuit against officer Joseph Mensah for shooting and killing Cole in February of 2020. Investigators cleared Mensah in the shooting, they say Cole shot at Mensah before he shot and killed him during a foot chase. The lawsuit calls Mensah ‘one of the deadliest police officers in American history,’ and says race was a factor in the case. Cole was black, Mensah is black as well. Mensah was involved in three police shootings in five years, and was cleared in every single one of them.
