The herbal extract Kratom could be legalized in Wisconsin in the future.
The Wisconsin State Journal reports this week the Wisconsin Controlled Substances Board agreed to study Kratom and give a recommendation to the state legislature. Mayo Clinic says Kratom is often used to treat chronic pain and prevent opioid withdrawal, but that there are many safety concerns and no clear benefits to taking it. Kratom is currently illegal in Wisconsin and has failed to pass the state legislature in the past.
