Lawmakers in Madison are getting ready to override the state’s Elections Commissions.
The legislature’s Joint Committee for Review of Administrative Rules will meet tomorrow to kill a proposed rule from the Commission that would allow local election clerks to fill-in information on absentee ballots without contacting voters first. Senate Majority Leader Devin LeMahieu says state law is clear that clerks cannot add missing information, and said the Elections Commission’s rule clearly violates that law. The coming override is just the latest disagreement between lawmakers and election managers in the state.
