Eau Claire Fire Department was dispatched to a report of a structure fire in the 700 block of Hobart St. Upon arrival, heavy smoke and fire was found on the 1st floor and 2nd floor of a 2-story residential structure.
Companies arrived on scene and made an aggressive attack on the first floor and transitioned up to the second. Simultaneously crews vented the roof while others searched for occupants. The structure was found to be vacant and ECFD deemed the fire under control in 60 minuets. Crews worked for hours after extinguishing the fire checking construction voids for extension. ECFD was assisted by ECPD, Xcel Energy, and the Eau Claire Communications Center. The fire is currently under investigation.
