Eau Claire’s election managers say nothing is changing after last week’s Supreme Court ruling on ballot dropboxes.
City Clerk Carrie Riepl says they stopped using dropboxes earlier this year after a judge in Waukesha County declared them illegal. The state Supreme Court said the same thing on Friday. Riepl says voters can vote in-person or absentee through the mail. She says if you voted in the spring election, then things will be the same next month and again in November.
On the state level, Wisconsin’s governor says the state Supreme Court is robbing people of a choice on Election Day.
Governor Tony Evers criticized Friday’s ruling from the high court. He said the justices are making it tougher for people to vote by disallowing ballot dropboxes. The court says Wisconsin law is clear, the only ways to vote in the state are in-person or through the mail with an absentee ballot.
