Judge Rejects Plea Deal, Former Prison Guard Headed to Trial

A Wisconsin judge is rejecting a plea deal for a former prison guard accused of a hate crime.

Brown County Circuit Court Judge Kendall Kelley dismissed the agreement for Shane Nolan today saying he’d go to trial in February.  Prosecutors say Nolan beat Dessiray Koss last year, used a gay slur, and then pushed her into a fire.  Defense attorneys say Nolan accepts responsibility for the attack and suggested everyone should be able to move on with their lives.  He’ll go to trial next year.
