COVID-19 vaccines are now available in Wisconsin for children 6 months to 5 years old. This means that everyone 6 months and older in Wisconsin is now eligible to get vaccinated against COVID-19 at no cost.
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and CDC have authorized the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines for children as young as 6 months old. Both the CDC and American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) have recommended children in this new age group get vaccinated against COVID-19.
The Eau Claire City-County Health Department encourages parents to call their family doctor to schedule their child’s vaccine appointment. If you do not have a family doctor, find local vaccine providers for this age group at vaccines.gov, by texting your zip code to 438829, or calling 1-800-232-0233. Parents can also schedule an appointment for their child at the Health Department’s COVID-19 vaccine clinic, held every Tuesday on the ground floor of the Eau Claire County Courthouse from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., at ecvaccine.as.me or by calling (715) 839-4718.
