It was a violent end to Milwaukee’s Juneteenth celebration.
Police say someone opened fire as the celebration was winding-down on the city’s north side yesterday evening. One person, a 39-year-old woman, was wounded as she was walking along the sidewalk near 5th and Burleigh. Milwaukee Police say there were several fights at the Juneteenth Celebration at near-by Rose Park. At least one of those fights is believed to have spilled-over, and ended with gunfire.
And that was part of a violent weekend as well as Milwaukee’s weekend shooting tally is 17 wounded, and four others killed. Milwaukee Police say they responded to a dozen different shootings between Friday morning and late last night. That includes a double shooting and a separate double homicide on Friday, and a triple shooting on Saturday. A number of teenagers, including a 15-year-old girl are among the wounded.
