Teachers in La Crosse are looking for the max pay increase that the local school district can legally give them.
The teachers’ union in La Crosse yesterday asked for the state-maximum four-point-seven percent raise. The school district is offering a two-percent bump. La Crosse Education Association President Jesse Martinez says teachers need more because of the rising price of gas and groceries.
State law limits how high teacher raises can go, but this year that cap is much higher because of inflation.
