We are getting a few more details about the man accused of killing a retired judge in New Lisbon on Friday.
Investigators say 56-year-old Douglas Uhde was in-and-out of prison and jail between the time Judge John Roemer first sentenced him for armed burglary back in 2005. Uhde was most recently in prison in 2020. The state’s Department of Justice is not giving an official motive about Roemer’s murder, but they are confirmed the link between Uhde and Roemer.
Investigators have said Uhde had a list of other possible targets, including Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers and Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer. Police say Uhde shot himself after killing Roemer on Friday, and was in critical condition over the weekend.
