There was a lot of remembering in our state and across the country yesterday.
Here in Wisconsin, Waukesha held its Memorial Day Parade to remember the servicemen and servicewomen who gave their lives for this country, but the entire community remembered the people killed and injured last November.
The Memorial Day Parade was Waukesha’s first parade since the Christmas Parade where police say a suspect sped through the crowd, killing six and injuring 60. Yesterday’s parade went off without a hitch, but did have a strong police presence.
Locally and in our own backyard, it was a somber Memorial Day in both Eau Claire and Chippewa Falls yesterday. Hundreds of people turned out in both cities to remember those who gave their lives for this country. In Eau Claire there was a parade that stretched from Wilson Park to Owen Park. In Chippewa Falls, their parade ended with a ceremony in Irvine Park.
