None of the two million-dollars Governor Tony Evers is sending to Milwaukee to help with the city’s violent crime problem will go towards new police officers.
Instead, the governor says the money will allow Milwaukee to hire private contractors to do the ballistic work for shootings in the city. The governor says some of the money will go for gear, and some of the cash could go toward overtime for officers in Milwaukee’s downtown area. Governor Evers is also promising to send Milwaukee security fencing to build a secure zone on weekends.
