The numbers on just who is being injured in officer-involved use-of-force cases in Wisconsin are now public knowledge after a series of reviews.
Attorney General Josh Kaul released the findings from his review of cases where a suspect was killed or injured, or where a police officer fired their weapon. There were 48 cases last year, with 11 ending in deaths and 11 more ending with gunshot wounds. Just two people suffered broken bones. The numbers show the majority of those 48 injured suspects, 32 of them, were white and 13 of the 48 were black. The numbers also show most of the suspects were under 35-years-old. Most of the officers involved in the use-of-force cases were also white, and most of them had fewer than 10-years-of service.
