There is a new deal in place between the Wisconsin National Guard and the Ho-Chunk Nation that gives the nation access to Fort McCoy.
The tribe and the guard signed the deal this week. It allows Ho-Chunk members to access burial sites at Fort McCoy, as well as take some of the native plants on the base for traditional medicines. This is the first update to an access agreement the Guard first signed with the tribe in 1999.
