A western Wisconsin State Representative is worried about the future of gifted and talented programs in the state’s schools.
Warren Petryk yesterday said Governor Evers’ veto of his legislation will leave kids behind. Petryk helped get a bill passed that would tally gifted and talented offerings at schools across the state, and track whether schools were offering enough gifted classes to enough students. Governor Evers vetoed the plan, he says because there wasn’t any funding for it.
Petryk said gifted and talented students are falling behind, and said the governor’s veto means they will have to wait another year to try and catch-up.
