Add Eau Claire to the list of cities that saw an abortion protest this week.
Dozens of people rallied outside the city’s courthouse yesterday. Eau Claire County’s Democratic Party organized the rally, they say to make their voices heard. The rally came after that draft decision that would overturn Roe v. Wade leaked on Monday.
On the state level, Wisconsin’s governor is one of more than a dozen Democratic governors calling on Congress to pass new abortion laws.
Governor Tony Evers yesterday led a coalition of 17 governors in asking that Congress act before the U.S. Supreme Court overturns Roe v. Wade. The governors wrote a letter to Congress saying that decisions about abortion should be made by women and their doctors, not politicians. Wisconsin is one of several states where abortion would become illegal if Roe is overturned.
